Nope. That's all bull. They don't want residential accounts doing concern level services. No other reason. My "pipage" can handle 300/300 (more actually). Been there, done that. Tin can't afford it right now. At present I'one thousand 200/20 residential. Same "pipe". I'm non saying my example is anybody'south example. America actually needs to get a hold of these duopolies in big cities where they accuse an arm and a leg for the same internet I tin can get in BFE for 1/4 of the price with unlimited data shit is ridiculous I pay 110 for 200D/5U and the other ISP offers same price but with 10D/5U no new ISPs have moved on then no ane has changed their prices and att hasn't changed its 10D/5U for the past iii years. We simply get screwed as consumers information technology'southward ridiculous.

This video is not what I expected. The title is "Why are upload speeds so SLOW?" not "Why are domicile home internet connections NOT full-duplex?" or "Why is my upload speed SLOWER than my download speed?". I was expecting Linus to talk well-nigh why, even though I have a full duplex internet connectedness, when I upload a video to YouTube it takes super long and doesn't saturate my uplink.

Upstream and downstream use completely different parts of the spectrum (what those are depends a lot on your geographical location and the Internet access provider's cable plant). Downstream and RF video are in the aforementioned infinite, with multiple 6MHz bands being allocated to each.
Symmetric DOCSIS currently remains in theoretical country, as it is nonetheless pretty hard to have a combined upstream and downstream bespeak, subtract the downstream indicate, and interpret the remaining upstream signal in realtime at the headend.

In my country, where I alive I get 300Mbps symmetric speeds (and so aforementioned top speed for uploads as for downloads) for the equivalent of ~$50 USD, with no monthly data cap or anything lol. And I don't even alive in a big city or annihilation, just a small boondocks with less than thou people.

Just for the flex of it: unlimited dwelling house phone + 1 mobile phone number w/ 4GB of monthly data cap at 4G LTE speeds and unlimited call minutes and unlimited sms, are all included in that $50 price tag
